PAINTREE is absolutely not a portmanteau of “painting” and “poetry”, although coincidentally those are the professions of artist Dana Robins and poet Sean Roberts, the creators of this book. Both are Americans living in Paris who, following the recent election, sought to sublimate the year’s anxiety into beauty. Over the course of a year, the poet and painter sent weekly poems and paintings to each other, and responded in their respective mediums. They alternated who would start every four weeks. This formed a year long discussion through art.
